ARE WE GETTING WHAT WE DESERVE

"No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can
any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffusd and Virtue is
preservd. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant,
and debauchd in their Manners, they will sink under their own
weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders."

-- Samuel Adams (letter to James Warren, 4 November 1775)

We have many examples of our public officials acting in a very depraved manner. Mostly of a preverted sexual manner but also other  acts of wrong doing. My question is do we as a people allow this to happen.I know 1 person can't vote out the whole Congress but as a whole why don't we clean house and Senate . I have a theory but I would like to see other opinions . I don't think anyone can say that putting up with elected officials that lie , cheat , steal  and do many other wrong things is a good thing for our country .We all make mistakes but I think we can tell when someone makes a mistake and when someone is of a corrupt depraved individual .

If men of wisdom and knowledge, of moderation and temperance,
of patience, fortitude and perseverance, of sobriety and true
republican simplicity of manners, of zeal for the honour of
the Supreme Being and the welfare of the commonwealth; if men
possessed of these other excellent qualities are chosen to fill
the seats of government, we may expect that our affairs will rest
on a solid and permanent foundation."

-- Samuel Adams (letter to Elbridge Gerry, 27 November 1780)

"I pronounce it as certain that there was never yet a truly great
man that was not at the same time truly virtuous."

-- Benjamin Franklin (The Busy-body, No. 3, 18 February 1728)

" A society of sheep must in time beget a government of wolves." Bertrand deJouvenal
